Raspberry Pi

For our project, we plan to use this tiny little computer called Raspberry Pi. Basically our digital library will consist of many small computers like these and they are connected to a local dedicated server running Ubuntu Server. The main server will serve learning materials such as books, music, videos and other educational softwares like Offline Khan Academy and Wikipedia. On Raspberry Pi computers though, we will have installed lightweight softwares like Anki, LibreOffice, GIMP and others that can be used for learning basic computer skills.

We have now purchased two Raspberry Pi, Pi1 and Pi2 and have been testing them. Even though Pi1 is very slow, we see that Pi2 is fast and completely usable for our project.

Here we are testing the first test unit.

We will keep you posted.
